Gigantic Pakucho Restock!

Gigantic Pakucho Restock!

The (very) long awaited restock of Pakucho cotton has finally arrived! It had been in the works for nearly a year, so I was so excited to pop open each box to see these luminously beautiful natural colours.

When I originally placed the order, I planned on getting the largest amount yet of Vega&Pakucho super bulky since the test run of it a few years back had been so successful. So I was hearbroken to hear that the mill that normally spins it had scrapped the spinning frame they needed to make it. Luckily, Peru Naturtex, the organization that works with organic growers to produce the cotton, arranged to hire several Peruvian women to hand spin it for us! It cost a little bit more to produce, and much longer to make, but the end result is absolutely gorgeous! Not only is it expertly done, but the yarn is exquisitely soft. So in the end, we got to help provide fair trade-standard employment for women and get the best quality yarn possible.

For a very long time I've wanted to be able to supply all the available colours of Pakucho Original organic, fair trade colourgrown cotton. Since that's a huge investment, I've gradually added to it over time. Starting with five base colours over fifteen years ago, I've finally expanded the offering to all fourteen! It's so satisfying to finally see them all in one place. I can't wait to see projects that use them all together!

Here's what it looked like when it first arrived:
